Why do I continually repeat these patterns in my life?
Do I have options around how I move, think, and feel?
How are my muscles, bones, and emotions tied together?
Does my movement reflect my mood?
Can I alter the way I perceive my own healthiest movement?
Dates & Times:
Friday, February 28, 6-9pm
Saturday, March 1, 9am-5pm
Sunday, March 2, 9am-12pm
Answers to our physical and emotional issues live in the skeleton and muscles, but we need to know how to break out of our habitual ways! The routine of our yoga practice limits new movements, thoughts, and feelings.
It is difficult for us to identify and self-correct our movement habits (thereby our emotions and thoughts), since the movements feel “right/normal” to our nervous system.
This weekend intensive, featuring Staffan Elgelid, PhD, will interface biomechanical and human learning principles with the Feldenkrais Method. You will experience how changing the way you organize movement choices can help you reach your personal goals faster and with more insight and awareness!
Objectives:
Experience “re-organizing” the skeleton to bring on emotions such as comfort, stability, joy
Discern the movement patterns that bring on fear, instability, pain
Gain insight into your underlying obstacles
Understand how to induce new emotions through movement choices
Discover the role of the nervous system in movement and emotional life patterns
