What's a retreat?

A retreat is simply time to withdraw to the safety of spiritual space. Any of you who have attended my classes are familiar with what spirituality means to me and the space of peacefulness and ease we all create. A retreat is time to bask in that loving, relaxing energy. Think "sanctuary", "haven", or "resort".

Why would I want to go on retreat?

Welkin YogaLife Retreats are excellent for you if you are seeking inspiration or renewal on your spiritual journey or feel lost, stuck, or like something is missing in your life you. Even if you are simply exploring the retreat experience, you will profit greatly from time away from your routine, like-minded community, and new ideas and yoga practice techniques. On retreat, you have the opportunity to investigate and discover new aspects of yourself.

What will we do there?

Welkin YogaLife Retreats offer discussion, creativity, and yoga practice to explore and experience your own individual style and needs around the theme of the weekend. We work in large and small groups, as well as in private contemplation, because we learn so much from one another's process and our own quiet spaces. The exercises are fun and the atmosphere is accepting.

Who attends retreats?

People of all ages, abilities, and levels of experience attend Welkin YogaLife Institute's intensives. If the topic sounds interesting to you, or seems to answer some questions you carry, please consider that as a nudge from your inner compass. Every person on retreat will be there for a different reason: physical health, stress, to deepen her/his understanding of yoga, for a spiritual experience, as a vacation, psychological/emotional/personal issues, and sometimes couples attend not only to reconnect with themselves but also to deepen their relationship with each other.

How will our time be used?

During the workshops we will discuss various concerns and questions. You will have the opportunity to share your own experiences, if you wish, so that others may learn from your insight. Many people express that the sharing is one of the key features of our retreats. During our discussions, the facilitator addresses participants' concerns by clarifying yogic philosophy and practice. There is also lots of time to practice asana, meditation, and other aspects of yogic lifestyle. Many people have enjoyed the free time and used it to make new friendships, apply the lessons learned, explore creative pursuits or just nap!

What will we eat?

Delicious, fresh, vegetarian, gluten-free meals and snacks are included in the Retreat. The delectable menu has been carefully planned to balance participants' nutritional and energetic needs. The activities of the weekend were considered while planning the scrumptious servings! They are presented buffet-style, so that you may customize your portions.

During weekend intensives at Welkin YogaLife Institute, you are responsible for your meals. The teas and snacks provided for you are wholesome and tasty. Oftentimes, retreat participants will order food together from a local Indian or whole foods location.

What about my food allergies?

We have great empathy for folks on special diets and with sensitivities that affect their health. Please make us aware of these issues as soon as possible and we will make every effort to work with you in protecting your wellbeing.

What can I bring?

It is important to bring a pen and paper/journal, layered clothing, and an inquisitive mind to every retreat and intensive. If you require anything else, you will be informed accordingly in the Welcome to Retreat email, which is sent approximately one week before the event.
